We recently enjoyed a stay at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. In this article we will review our experience during our stay as well as offer some tips and notes while visiting the Disneyland Resort.

It’s important to note that at the time of our stay some major refurbishments were taking place and we were not able to experience some of the amenities offered. Additionally, the resort has since announced a transitionary phase into a retheming of the hotel. More information on that is detailed in this article.

That said, we were still able to experience a pleasant stay at this hotel and there are plenty of reasons why we recommend staying here.

Easy access to Disneyland Theme Parks and Downtown Disney

Disney’s Paradise Pier is one of the three onsite hotels at the Disneyland Resort. This means that guests have easy access to get to the theme parks or the Downtown Disney shopping district.

To get to any of these locations there is a walkway next to the hotel that guests can take to get to Downtown Disney and/or both of the theme parks. We calculated our walk to about 7 minutes from start to finish. This was a perk in getting to the theme parks bright and early to start our day; even better to get back to our room to rest our tired feet after long (and fun) days in the parks!

What’s more, the security checkpoint is performed before entering the Downtown Disney area. This means that part of the entrance process is complete by the point in which you need to enter either theme park for the day.

Additionally, a new way to enter Disney’s California Adventure Park was recently added for Paradise Pier hotel guests. A brand new entrance has been added for guests to enter directly into the theme park via a separate walkway. Guests will have a dedicated entrance in Pixar Pier between Seaside Souvenirs and Corn Dog Castle. This walkway was still in construction during our stay, but we find the value in having that special entrance!

Comfortable and Bright Room Types

Our room was a standard view room which had two queen beds and one pull out day bed. Upon entrance, we found our room to be bright and cheerful. The subtle details depicting Mickey and friends was very pleasant and welcoming. Our view was over the hotel pool, however at the time of our stay the pool was under refurbishment.

The queen beds were quite comfortable, and I personally got a very good night’s rest in them, especially after full days experiencing the Disneyland Resort.

The bathroom has a shower/bathtub combo and large counter with one sink.

Also in the room was a mini fridge and coffee area. A lighted writing desk was in the corner of the room as well. Watch our room tour video below to see more!

Beautiful Hotel Design with A Seaside Feel

The hotel design is very bright and cheerful. The subtle details make it a comfortable and fun hotel to relax in. Upon walking into the resort, the vibe is of a seaside feel with Goofy welcoming you inside. There are also some fun details found around the resort such as nods and details to California beachfront boardwalks.

Exciting Hotel Amenities

Disney’s Paradise Pier boasts several great amenities. These amenities include:

  • Onsite Pool
  • Fitness Center
  • Restaurants and Grab and Go options
  • Gift Shop
  • Separate movie and television viewing room
  • Easy access to Downtown Disney and both Disneyland Resort theme parks
  • Dedicated entrance to Disney’s California Adventure theme park
  • Fireworks views from the pool

While many of these amenities were temporarily disabled during our stay, there were alternate options offered to hotel guests. For example, guests looking for dining options can mobile order from many options at the Downtown Disney district for delivery to the resort. Also, guests can order dining from varying dining options at Disney’s Grand Californian hotel for carryout (Disney’s Grand Californian is directly across the street from Paradise Pier hotel).

Also, since the pool is under refurbishment, guests can utilize the pool at the Grand Californian instead.

We felt that these were great considerations for guests during a time of heavy refurbishment at the hotel.

Our Review

Despite many of the above-mentioned amenities not available during our stay, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and the overall feel and comfort of our room. We recommend this hotel for consideration for families looking for a fun and convenient way to access the theme parks as well as Downtown Disney. We’d love to stay here again and experience more of the perks of staying at this resort.
