We visited Galaxy’s Edge on a recent Disney vacation and absolutely loved our experience! We now want to provide you with some insights and tips to experiencing one of imagineering’s most amazing and immersive new lands.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Attraction

This attraction is one of the most exciting and innovative attractions ever made for the Disney parks. Guests can truly feel a part of the Star Wars movies the moment they step foot into this attraction. Help the resistance fight the First Order and come up close and personal with the heros that bravely fight the mighty Imperial forces.

This attraction should not be missed! Note that in order to experience this one of a kind attraction guests must obtain a boarding pass to get in a virtual queue to board the ride. The new section will detail the steps in order to obtain the boarding passes necessary for the attraction.

Getting a boarding pass for The Rise of the Resistance Attraction

At the current time there are two options in obtaining a boarding pass for the attraction*. In the first opportunity, ,the virtual queue reservation system opens at 7:00am each morning. You can attempt to get your passes from anywhere within the resort and not necessarily when you are physically at Hollywood Studios. However, you need to have a valid ticket for admission as well as a park pass reservation for Hollywood Studios for the day.

Additionally, the virtual opens again at 1pm daily. Different from the early morning selection, guests must be within the park to have the opportunity to obtain a boarding pass.

It should be noted that all boarding passes are subject to availability and guests can only enter the virtual queue once per day. Also note that with park hopping now available within Walt Disney World Resort, guests transferring from another park may not be able to enter the virtual queue.

Utilize the My Disney Experience App

You’ll need the My Disney Experience App to get a virtual boarding group number. If you don’t already have the app, download it from the app store and set up your account and friends list. Here you can link a magic band, your park tickets and then get your fast passes and dining reservations.

If you can get a boarding group, you will likely have some time before your group is called and then you have two hours (in most cases) to return after your number is called. When your number is called it will come through as a push notification but to be safe, check the app frequently to see how much longer before your group is called.

*Note the process for boarding pass selections has varied over recent months. It’s always best to check the My Disney Experience app for recent updates to the process.

Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run Attraction

This attraction is a a true joy for guests of all ages. Guests step aboard the famed Millennium Falcon to help the crew obtain (ahem…smuggle) some coaxium. Each person in your party has a job to do and best yet there’s no experience necessary to do your part. For the Star Wars fans, the amount of details on the ship are outstanding. Be on the lookout a vast amount of Easter eggs from the Star Wars universe.

Savi’s Workshop (lightsaber building attraction)

Have you ever wanted to build your own custom lightsaber? This experience is one of my personal favorites. It’s a very intimate experience and a must do for Star Wars fans. Savi’s “Gatherers” help you construct your own own handbill lightsaber from a set of parts and artifacts. This is a unique experience that is sure to delight guests of all ages.

The Droid Depot

At the Droid Depot you can build your own custom astromech unit and accessorize it if you’d like. The process is extremely fun and simple. Varying parts and pieces roll by on a converter belt and you then can build and personalize your own droid unit. We had a blast making these, so much so that we came home with two of them! Once you are done building your droid you can test it outside in front of the building and interact with other newly built droids. Be sure to look around the store. There are all kinds of details above you and in the various cages around the area; there are Star Wars Easter Eggs everywhere!

Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities

Dok-Ondar’s is a treasure trove of Star Wars artifacts from past and present. It has everything from cyber crystals to clothing and lightsabers. It’s quite like visiting a museum as there are fine details from the Star Wars universe in every corner. And don’t forgot to say hello to Dok himself while you are there!

Dining and Food Options

Ronto Roaster’s

This one is my personal favorite quick service in Galaxy’s Edge It has a variety of quick service options with the signature item being the Ronto wraps. These wraps are delicious and they can be made in a variety of allergy friendly options. I found it best to utilize the mobile order feature in the My Disney experience app for ordering. This option is super-fast and provides less waiting in long lines. We just grabbed a table and our food was ready in minutes.

Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo

Head in to this quick service restaurant housed in a working hangar bay, for a variety of lunch and dinner options. Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs has stocked his food freighter full of options for your family to enjoy. The menu has a lot to offer and the atmosphere is fun and eclectic.

Oga’s Cantina

Other than the attractions in Galaxy’s Edge, this was probably one of my top three experiences of all. Musical entertainment is found in the form of droid DJ R-3X, a former Starspeeder 3000 pilot for the Star Tours attraction also located in Hollywood Studios. On Oga’s menu, there are both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options along with light snacks and sides available for order. Please note that Oga’s is so popular that guests maximum time allowed for their table is 45 minutes. This is a really fun experience and we truly enjoyed our drinks and snacks. Advanced reservations are strongly recommended. Watch the video below for a preview of all the fun we found inside at Oga’s.

Misc food carts

In addition to the dining options listed above, there are varying popcorn stands and drink carts with coke products (in a Star Wars theme). Also, be sure to visit the Milk Stand for the infamous blue or green milk. The two options are equally delicious and are offered in frozen form. Both options are also plant based.

Other, Misc. and Shopping

There is SO much to see in Galaxy’s Edge. I personally spent one morning just walking around and taking pictures. There’s a lot of Star Wars Easter eggs from all movies, shows, books and otherwise scattered throughout the land. For example, look for R2’s tracks in the ground or the blaster holes in the walls of the marketplace area. In addition, Kylo Ren makes appearances on his ship and walks through the land throughout the day…as does Rey, Chewie, multiple Storm Troopers and Vi Moradi. The marketplace area has a lot of other artifacts for purchase. It really is amazing!
